Best supplements for weight loss: Grains of paradise could aid weight loss say studies

Weight loss is not always an easy feat, but science has shown certain supplements may be able to help. One supplement containing seeds which are commonly used to make gin could help curb cravings and burn stubborn body fat – grains of paradise.

Grains of paradise is a natural fat burner which has been shown to help burn fat, reduce a person’s appetite and boost their metabolism.

Grains of paradise have a similar appearance to black pepper.

It’s commonly used to give gin its flavour, but the chemicals in the seeds have also been proven to decrease swelling, kill certain bacteria, and help burn body fat.

The weight-loss benefits of grains of paradise have been the subject of numerous scientific studies.

Studies have shown supplementing with this plant extract may not only constitute a gentle way of fighting the accumulation of fat but may also attack existing body fat reserves.

Grains of paradise have also been shown to help fire up brown adipose tissue, which keeps the body warm by burning calories.

In a study published in the US National Library of Medicine National Institutes of Health, daily ingestion of grains of paradise extract in energy expenditure and visceral fat loss in humans was investigated.

The study noted: “We reported previously that a single ingestion of an alcohol extract of grains of paradise, a species of the ginger family, increases energy expenditure (EE) through the activation of brown adipose tissue, a site of sympathetically mediated metabolic thermogenesis.

“The present study aimed to examine a daily ingestion of grains of paradise extract on whole-body EE and body fat in humans.”

The study concluded that: “The daily ingestion of grains of paradise, but not the placebo, increased whole-body EE.

“These results suggest that grains of paradise extract may be an effective and safe tool for reducing body fat, mainly by preventing visceral fat accumulation.”
