Stomach bloating affects most people at some point in their lifetime, according to the NHS. But you could avoid feeling bloated by simply using a hot water bottle, it’s been claimed.
Bloating can make the stomach feel swollen, hard, and it’s generally quite uncomfortable.
Your bloating pain may be caused by eating certain gassy foods, or by eating too fast or too much.
But one of the best ways to get rid of trapped wind may also be one of the simplest.
Simply using a hot water bottle could help to relieve your bloating pain, it’s been claimed.
If you have trapped wind after a big meal, you should consider applying heat to your stomach, according to medical website Medical News Today.
A hot water bottle is an easy option, but you could also use a microwaveable heat pad.
The heat helps the muscles in the gut to relax, which subsequently allows trapped gas to move through the intestines.
Stomach pain itself may also be reduced by using a hot water bottle, it’s believed.

“Trapped gas can be painful and distressing, but many easy remedies can alleviate symptoms quickly,” it said.
“When gas pains strike, place a hot water bottle or heating pad on the stomach.
“The warmth relaxes the muscles in the gut, helping gas to move through the intestines.
“Heat can also reduce the sensation of pain.”
Meanwhile, if a hot water bottle isn’t doing the trick, you could also try relieving your stomach pain by drinking ginger tea.
Ginger has been claimed to reduce intestinal cramping, dietitians have claimed.
It’s believed that ginger’s gut benefits come from the compounds gingerols.
If you do decide to add ginger tea to your breakfast routine, all you’ll need is a single tablespoon of fresh ginger.
You could also lower your risk of stomach bloating by avoiding swallowing air, or by keeping your mouth closed while eating.
Speak to a doctor if your bloating symptoms don’t go away, said the NHS.
It could be caused by something more serious, including ovarian or bowel cancer.
While stomach pain is unlikely to be caused by a type of cancer, it’s always worth getting it checked by a medical professional.
