Buckingham Palace has confirmed the Queen has tested positive for Covid, following her son Prince Charles and his wife Camilla testing positive last week. As the 95-year-old Queen self-isolates at her home, Windsor Castle, she is expected to continue with “light duties”. What coronavirus symptoms does the Queen have?

A statement from Buckingham Palace revealed the Queen is experiencing “mild cold-like symptoms” after testing positive for coronavirus.

The Palace added: “She will continue to receive medical attention and will follow all the appropriate guidelines.”

The monarch had recently seen her son and heir, Prince Charles, who tested positive for the virus last week before his wife Camilla also received a positive result.

The Queen’s “mild cold-like symptoms” may sound familiar to many Britons who have also had the virus in recent months.

According to the most recent research from the ZOE Covid Study, the top five symptoms reported at the moment are:

  • A runny nose
  • Headaches
  • Fatigue
  • Sneezing
  • Sore throat

It is likely the Queen’s symptoms resemble this list of the most-reported symptoms.

The Queen is thought to be triple-jabbed, which should go some way in protecting the Monarch from serious illness.

In October 2021 the Queen spent a night in hospital, prompting fears about the Monarch’s health.

However, she has made a return to her public life and duties since, although now relying on a walking stick to help her get around.

This is the second time Prince Charles has had Covid, but the first time for the Queen.
